AYASOFT Progressive Web Apps (PWA) are uniquely designed user experiences, that look and function exactly like native mobile apps, but have the reach of the Internet and are independent of the user's device.
PWA's provide all the benefits of fast mobile apps with the least amount of efforts for the user.
Features, flexibility, smoothness, and gestures look and feel the same as that of a native mobile app.
A Progressive Web App, is a web application that is a regular web page or website but can appear (and can be installed), like a traditional mobile application or native mobile application. It will show up on your home screen and start menu and can be accessed without opening a browser.
Technically, a PWA will save the entire webpage to local storage, and update the content when necessary. The way this is achieved is by using a service worker to serve all pages, CSS style-sheets, images and JavaScript. All this is stored in what is generally referred to as an app shell, as we know it from mobile app development terms, and means that everything needed to render the page will be stored in the users device for optimal performance.
Once a user browses to a new page, or a page with updated content compared to that user's last visit, the service worker will show the new content accordingly.
Compared to a conventional website, a PWA works in harmony with it, but acts as a layer between the website and the internet connection, routing all browser requests through a script called a Service Worker, which will then display the desired results, depending on more parameters than a normal website, thereby making it possible to add offline messages, or even offline webpage content specifically tailored for users without constant access to the Internet.
Mobile Searche Statistics from Google, show that smartphone users are 50% more likely to expect to purchase something immediately while using their smartphone compared to a year ago.
70% of smartphone users who bought something in a store first turned to their phone for information about a purchase (Google) 35% of people who searched on their phone spent more than they expected in the store (Google).
Combining the reach of the web with the performance of native apps - Progressive Web App's are the perfect amalgamation of unique features, high-yielding endless functionalities and seamless user experience, they offer frictionless navigation and higher retention for better conversion.
Not only will the enhanced page speed and lower bounce rates positively affect the rankings from an SEO point of view, but it will also increase the quality of the user experience, and provide yet another channel for marketing content to visitors with push notifications as well as presence on the Google play store.
IOS supports PWA starting from version 11.3. Windows 10 offers support for PWA in the most recent updates. Also, a PWA needs to be served over a secured TLS connection.
